Publication Ethics

Ethical principles of publishing an article in the Journal of Solid and Fluid Mechanics

The ethical policies of this publication are based on the principles of the International Committee on Publishing Ethics (COPE), the ethical charter of publications of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, as well as the policies of Shahrood University of Technology in this regard.

Duties and Responsibilities of Publishers

  1. JSFM is promising to ensure that the decision on manuscript submissions is only made based on professional judgment and will not be affected by any personal interests.
  2. JSFM is committing to maintain the integrity of academic and research records.
  3. JSFM is monitoring the ethics by Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editors, Editorial Board Members, Reviewers, Authors.
  4. JSFM is always checking the plagiarism and fraudulent data issues involving in the submitted manuscript.
  5. JSFM is always willing to publish corrections, clarifications and retractions involving its publications as and when needed.
  6. JSFM will deal with any misconduct if it is proven.

Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

  1. The Editors of the journal should have the full authority to reject/accept a manuscript.
  2. The Editors of the journal should maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts under review or until they are published.
  3. The Editors of the journal should preserve the anonymity of reviewers.
  4. The Editors of the journal should disclose and try to avoid any conflict of interest.
  5. The Editors of the journal should be willing to investigate plagiarism and fraudulent data issues and willing to publish corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies when needed.
  6. The Editors of the journal should have the limit themselves only to the intellectual content.
  7. The Editors of the journal must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers.
  8. Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted paper will not be used by the editor or the members of the editorial board for their own research purposes without the author's explicit written consent.

Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

  1. The Reviewers should maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts, which they are invited to review.
  2. The Reviewers should provide comments in time that will help editors to make decision on the submitted manuscript to be published or not.
  3. The Reviewers are bound to treat the manuscript received for peer reviewing as confidential, and must not use the information obtained through peer review for personal advantage. 
  4. The Reviewers comments against each invited manuscript should be technical, professional and objective.
  5. The Reviewers should not review the manuscripts in which they have found conflicts of interest with any of the authors, companies, or institutions.

Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

  1. Manuscripts must be submitted with the understanding that they have not been published elsewhere (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture, review, or thesis) and are not currently under consideration by another journal published by or any other publisher.
  2. The submitting (corresponding) author is responsible for ensuring that the manuscript article's publication has been approved by all the other coauthors.
  3. It is also the authors' responsibility to ensure that the manuscripts emanating from a particular institution are submitted with the approval of the necessary institution.
  4. It is a condition for submission of a manuscript that the authors permit editing of the paper for readability.
  5. Authors are requested to clearly identify who provided financial support for the conduct of research and/or preparation of the manuscript and briefly describe the role of the funder/sponsor in any part of the work.
  6. A copy right release and conflict of interest disclosure form must be signed by the corresponding author in case of multiple authorships, prior to the acceptation of the manuscript, by all authors, for publication to be legally responsible towards the Journal ethics and privacy policy.
  7. All authors have agreed to allow the corresponding author to serve as the primary correspondent with the editorial office, to review the edited manuscript and proof.
  8. When author(s) discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher to retract or correct the manuscript. 
  9. All authors must know that that the submitted manuscripts under review or published with ISEE are subject to screening using Plagiarism Prevention Software. Plagiarism is a serious violation of publication ethics. 

Examples of violations of publishing ethics by authors

  • Plagiarism: Plagiarism means deliberately using another person's articles or ideas in your own name. Even using another person's sentence or your own previous sentences without citing the source is considered plagiarism. All articles submitted to this publication are reviewed by plagiarism software.
  •  Data fabrication and distortion: Data fabrication is when the researcher has not actually conducted a study but provides data and conclusions. Misrepresentation also occurs when a research is done but the data and results are changed.
  •  Simultaneous submission: when an article is submitted to two publications.
  •  Duplicate submission: occurs when two or more articles have the same assumptions, data, and results.
  •  Repeated (additional) submission: It means dividing a study into several articles and sending them.
  •  Improper contribution of another author: All the authors mentioned in the article must contribute to its creation.
  •  Manipulation of sources: when several sources are mentioned in the final part of an article, while they are not mentioned in the text.
